Vice City Meteorologist Fired After Delivering Four Accurate Forecasts in a Row

Senior weather presenter Darla Sunshine, 14-year veteran of VCBC Channel 7, was let go from the network Friday following what station management described in a termination letter as "an unprecedented and disorienting pattern of forecast accuracy" spanning four consecutive broadcast days. Sunshine, who correctly predicted Tuesday's storm cell, Wednesday's fog delay, Thursday's clearance window, and Friday's humidity spike to within two degrees, was reportedly told by programming director Gil Marsh that "accuracy at that level creates unrealistic expectations in the audience" and that the station's meteorology segment is "more of a lifestyle element than an information service."

Three colleagues who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity confirmed that VCBC's internal forecast accuracy benchmark is "somewhere around 40 percent, and that's considered fine." Sunshine is currently in discussion with three rival stations.
